Terms of Service
Draft — last updated 2026-09-04, pending legal review before public launch.
CommonGround is operated by Common Ground Dating LLC.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Age is self-attested at signup and rejected server-side if it implies you're under 18.
2. Your account
You're responsible for the accuracy of your profile and for keeping your login credentials to yourself. One account per person.
3. Status honesty
Your HIV/HSV status as shown on your profile must be accurate. Misrepresenting it — claiming a status you don't have, or denying one you do — is a violation of these Terms and grounds for suspension or an immediate ban. See our Community Guidelines for how enforcement works.
4. Acceptable use
Harassment, threats, hate speech, spam, unsolicited explicit content, scraping profile data, or impersonating another person are all prohibited. Blocking a user removes them from your discovery and messaging in both directions; filing a report automatically blocks the reported user for you as well.
5. Your content
You own what you post — your photos, bio, and messages. By posting it, you grant us the license needed to display it to other users as part of operating the service (for example, showing your profile to your daily candidates or a match).
6. Privacy and data
Status and message content are protected in transit and at rest, and never sold or shared with third parties for advertising, including advertisers themselves — the only exception is the small set of infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, to run the app. Full account and data deletion — a real purge, not a soft deactivation — is available self-service at any time from your account settings. See our Privacy Policy for details, including what protection means in practice and the limited exceptions to immediate deletion.
7. Moderation
Reports are reviewed by a person. An automated system may help categorize and prioritize reports, but it never bans or removes content on its own.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate an account for violating these Terms or the Community Guidelines. You can delete your own account and data at any time, self-service, from your account settings (see Section 6).
9. No warranty
This service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms. A material change to how we collect or share your health data is different: continued use alone does not count as accepting it, and we will ask for your separate agreement before it takes effect.
11. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent through our contact page.
